New build garden landscaping in Sandbach.

The Brief

This was a bland and boring new build garden. Our clients wanted a modern landscaped garden with clean lines and multiple usable spaces. Overlooked by neighbours, privacy was a concern. They also wanted low maintenance planting plus a corner with shade and shelter suited to evening outdoor dining. So, we created this…

Design & Construction Decisions

Top 10cm of previous lawn scrapped off, for replenishment of soil with quality growing medium ahead of field-fresh turf lawn rolls

Paving laid to 1:60 fall on 150mm Type 1 MOT subbase, on full contact mortar bed. Grouted with flow point.

Eleganus pleached trees giving additional privacy within the fence line.

Titan pergola (aluminium powder coated) with opening and closing louvres over the corner patio.

Planting of rudbeckia, helenium, echinacea, aster and sedum into compost enriched soil with balanced granular, slow-release fertiliser.

Challenges & Solutions

The conservatory construction was delayed, resulting in an overlap between the projects. To minimise delay for the clients, we collaborated with the third party firm to dig the foundations for the conservatory during our groundworks phase.

We made progress with construction before pausing to finish whilst the conservatory was built; allowing for paving around it.

The volume of waste and aggregate required collection and delivery via grab lorry off the clients driveway, so we fully protected the driveway and completed this first phase in just 2 days

The Outcome

This bland new build garden has been transformed into a stunning oasis. Here is what our client had to say:

“…everything from weather, flooding, mud, you name it, they had to overcome it…but they did a wonderful job and the end result is just as he had planned it. My friend, when she saw it, said it looked as if it should be in a Home and Garden magazine”
