Construction Design and Management

CBA with CDM? It seems a lot of companies cant be arsed with the regulations, or feel it doesn’t apply to them. They do the same thing every day and have never had a problem. I can see their point, to a degree. Honestly, that was my perspective too for a while… until you think about it in another way…

Creating a garden is a team effort. Every body has roles and responsibilities. A team works best when everyone knows their role and responsibilities.

Furthermore, construction involves high-risk activities; risks which need to be managed.

It only takes one mistake and you can be in big trouble. So, why take the chance? Why not do things properly and by-the-book?

CLIENTS are responsible for appointing other contractors and designers (we are both) and so ensuring that their duties are carried out. In our quotes and contracts, we provide a complete, full and technical summary of all construction activities. During the job we now take lots of photos for your records, and ours. Showing that our duties are being professionally carried out.

CLIENTS must also ensure that sufficient time and resources are allocated to each stage of the project and that relevant information is prepared and provided from the outset.

CONTRACTORS are responsible for planning, managing and monitoring construction work with account of risk management; taking over from designers in the preconstruction phase.

The regulations of CDM (2015) apply to all projects of all sizes and scope. We take health and safety seriously; for everybody’s health and wellbeing.
